Catfish Stories And Cold Open
SPEAKER_02
Oh my god, I just totally got catfished. He looks absolutely nothing like his picture. So I found out the guy that I've been dating is married with kids. His wife just reached out to me.
Dark Romance Versus Smut Books
SPEAKER_00
Welcome to the meat market. The single scene is a slaughterhouse, and we are here to devour it. We are your hosts. I'm Lindsay. I'm Jess. And today's sizzling single is Nicole. Welcome. Thank you. So you are obsessed with dark romance novels. Oh, yeah. What is dark romance? Is that like the naughty ones? Yeah. I recently just got into this too.
SPEAKER_05
So yeah. Really? Yeah. So I didn't know until recently that there's a difference between dark romance and smut. What is the difference? So dark romance is just dark things are happening. They're morally gray men, they do wrong things. Smut is where all the sex is.
SPEAKER_03
Okay, so what is fourth wing considered?
SPEAKER_05
It's dark romance. It's not smart.
SPEAKER_03
Okay, then I am into dark romance that smut. That was my first experience, and I was obsessed. I read like the last book, I think, was like 550 pages. And I was like, do I want to start it? Do I not want to start it? I really don't have time right now. And so I started it and finished it in like three days. It was so good. It's addicting. It is addicting. Have you read all three of them? I have. Yeah. Yeah. I finished the series in like an insane amount of time. I finished the series in like a month and a half.
SPEAKER_05
Which is wild because those books are huge.
SPEAKER_03
I know. So it takes me like an entire year to read one Game of Thrones book. But I feel like the like it's so much the information in that is so much more dry. Whereas in the Fourth Wing books, it's similar. Like there's sort of similar plots and storylines of like the dragons and just like all the random like fantasy stuff. But it keeps you engaged. But it keeps you interested. Yes. Yes.
SPEAKER_05
There's always something new happening. And you're like, wait, what?
SPEAKER_00
So was Fifty Shades of Grey a smut book? Technically, yes, but that's romance play.
SPEAKER_03
And that's compared to what I repeat. And that's just straight up romance. Yeah. That's not like fantasy.
SPEAKER_05
It's not fantasy, no, but it is smut because he does have the red room. He does teach your things. Fantasy.
SPEAKER_00
What is what do you mean fantasy? Dragons, gallons, vampire.
SPEAKER_05
I mean, yeah, for certain things. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
Entertaining. I love to read though. Like read. I would much rather read than watch TV like any day. Yeah. And so it's just like, I don't know, it's entertaining. That's funny. Yeah. Didn't you ever watch?
SPEAKER_00
Didn't you ever watch Harry Potter or Twilight? I think I think I went to see Harry Potter when I was in Guam and I walked out halfway through when like witches, with wizards flying on broomsticks. It's just, I don't know. I like the realistic stuff. I know it makes me lame. Too silly for you. It's too like silly, too unbelievable. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05
That's fair. I don't watch Hallmark for the same reason.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah.
SPEAKER_05
Well, it's not real either. That's the one that bothers me. Like, that's he didn't just fall in love with you for no reason.
SPEAKER_03
That's not real. See, I don't like romance novels. Like, you won't catch me. I I read half of what did which one did you just say? Shades of Grey. Yeah. I read half of that, the first book, and I I couldn't finish it. Like it was so bad to me.
SPEAKER_00
I like the movie. I like the actor, and uh, I like both actors actually. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
Wait, so did you read the books or did you read the book? I did not read the books. I watched the movies.
Dating As A Protective Single Mom
SPEAKER_00
And typically when you read the books and watch the movie, I hear that always the book is better. Is that true? For most of the time, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So you're a single mother, how is dating? Being a single mother is that tough? That's awful.
SPEAKER_05
Um, I am very protective of my girls. I have two kids and I don't introduce early. So it's kind of hard. Like, when's the right time to do that? Um, how long do you wait? I it depends on the guy, honestly. If I'm comfortable enough after a couple of months, I may introduce, especially Lily, my youngest one. I have her all the time. I adopted her. So I don't share custody of her. Um, so maybe I'll introduce her because she doesn't care about anyone but me. So if he disappears, she's she's like, it's fine. My oldest daughter, though, I share custody of her. She remembers everyone and everything, and she attaches quickly. So how old are your kids? Um, my oldest is 12, and my youngest is six.
SPEAKER_00
And so you said you adopted the youngest from someone you know or my stepsister.
SPEAKER_05
Oh wow. Yes. She is a drug addict that will never stay clean. So she had Lily in prison for stabbing her boyfriend in the lung. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00
Did he survive?
SPEAKER_05
He did. And then he was like, I'm not pressing charges. And the state's like, we are.
SPEAKER_00
How long is she in jail for?
SPEAKER_05
Um, a little over a year, I think. Is she gonna get out soon? She's out now. She's moved to another state. And she's had another kid that she can't take care of. But that one got adopted at least.
SPEAKER_00
So I always wonder. So she didn't get clean in prison? Because I know people.
SPEAKER_05
No, and I didn't know this because you know, I'm not in prison and I've never been, but um it's really easy to get drugs in prison. It's very easy.
SPEAKER_03
I have a friend in prison. We were just talking. I have a friend in prison, and it is very easy to get drugs in prison. It is very easy to get anything in prison. So you just pay the guards? Like how um, yeah. It depends. There's there's ways. There's ways. And I'm not gonna like spill the tea here, but there are ways to get pretty much anything. Like, people get cell phones in, they get drugs, they get sunglasses. Like they'll sell like designer sunglasses to other inmates, like a pair of like 350 Louis Vuitton sunglasses, another inmate might buy those from you for like$1,200. That's wow. Like it's like a it's like its own city in there. Wow. I'm sure if you're you said stepsister. Yeah. Stepsister ever like shares with you or tells you about it. Like it's like its own community.
SPEAKER_05
Um, once I took Lily, uh, I can I disconnected all contact with her. Um, but Lily was born with meth and oipioids in her system, and that's how I found out. And I was like, you're in prison. How how? Wow. Yes. So that's crazy.
SPEAKER_03
And they make, they can make their own drugs.
SPEAKER_00
Oh my god. But I guess so they can. Okay. Well, I read that. Um is it Puff Daddy had his sentence extended because he got drunk in jail? I'm like, how does he get drunk in jail?
SPEAKER_03
I'm sure he has all kinds of different avenues he can take. In that too, like, haven't you ever heard of like the toilet hooch? No. No. Where they make alcohol in the toilet.
SPEAKER_00
They make alcohol in the toilet and they drink it.
SPEAKER_03
But it's just water. Like they don't pee in there.
SPEAKER_00
I know but fermenting, it's just like crusty like bits of fee's in there. Probably. But again, they don't care.
SPEAKER_04
Yeah. I mean, yeah, they clean it as well as they can, I guess. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00
Ah, so so how so how long do you wait until you introduce, you said? Um, it just depends on the guy.
SPEAKER_05
Yeah. If I feel comfortable enough, they can meet Lily. Um, but they'll always have to wait to meet Hannah, my oldest one. Yeah. Because she just attaches too fast.
SPEAKER_03
Have you ever had a situation where, because with the younger one, right? It's a little bit, that's a could be a little bit crazy. Like it has the potential to be a lot of drama, right? And so do you have guys, is that a turnoff sort of? Is that a deal breaker for guys? Do you find? Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05
And that's fine. Yeah. Um, Lily's not theirs, and she's never gonna be theirs. And I make it very clear that because I adopted her, and now that she's six, she has been asking more, like, where's my dad? How come I don't have a dad? Um, the guy that I'm dating long term, she's going to assume is dad. So it's kind of hard to differentiate that. Like you're eventually going to play that role. If you're not okay with that, that's cool. Find someone else.
SPEAKER_00
Do you have on your dating pro are you on the apps? Yeah. Do you have list on there that you have kids? Yes. Okay. I'm very honest about it all. Okay. Because didn't I read that you shouldn't put you have kids you shouldn't put that you have kids because some guys are predators and they will date you just for your kids. That is true. That's so creepy to me.
Predators And Hard-Won Safety Cues
SPEAKER_05
Um that's disturbing. As someone that has experience with that, I look for cues.
SPEAKER_00
You have experience with that?
SPEAKER_05
Yeah. So I was essayed when I was a little. I can talk about it now. I've been through a lot of therapy for it.
SPEAKER_00
Oh my god, was this someone you knew?
SPEAKER_05
It was stepdad.
SPEAKER_00
For how long?
SPEAKER_05
Um, I can't even tell you. I it started when I was 12, 13. Um, through therapy, I was like, there's like a black hole of like time that I don't remember. And they're like, oh, we can do hypnosis and try to pull that out of you. And I was like, no, I'm good. Like, I'm good with what I do remember. I don't want to remember the black hole stuff. So I don't know how long exactly. I just remember my mom caught him once, and that's how it all ended. And so I know social cues, I know what to look for, at least for the most part. I'm not gonna catch everybody, obviously, but I pay attention. Do you think that's one of the reasons why he was with your mom?
SPEAKER_03
I hope not. He had two girls of his own. Oh my god. Oh, that's gross.
SPEAKER_00
Like, when did he do this? Like while you were sleeping or like at night?
SPEAKER_05
Um, at night. So we had like a routine. Like he was in my life from seven to probably 13 or 14. It had to have been like 13 or 14. And we would have a little nightly routine, like we would play cards, he taught me how to play poker. And then as a child, I didn't think anything of this, but I would massage his back and he would massage mine. I didn't think of anything of it. As an adult, I look back and I'm like, that's weird. My mom should have questioned that a little bit more, but it's fine. Um as I got older though, and I became to develop more, he would like force his hands around me. He would hands would go places they shouldn't go. And it just kind of escalated from there. My mom would be asleep, she wouldn't know until she got him.
SPEAKER_00
Did he say something like, Don't tell your mother otherwise?
SPEAKER_05
Yeah, yeah. Mom wouldn't understand. This is just our time.
SPEAKER_00
Oh, that makes me angry.
SPEAKER_05
Did he ever get uh charged for it? Or no? No, my mom just sent him back to California to his parents and yeah. As an adult now going through therapy, when I was going through therapy for it, I was like, I will never get justice for that. It's an interesting feeling. Because you have to just accept that it that it happened and and move on from it.
SPEAKER_03
So, what are some of the things that you look out for? Or like what are red flags? Like what makes your spidey senses go off?
SPEAKER_05
Um, one guy was a little too curious about my kids, asked too many questions, asked um just too interested. And I was like, that's a little weird. Like, I get that you want to get to know me, but you're asking more questions about my kids than me. That's right. And that's where I started to, there's a line that you kind of cross there.
SPEAKER_00
Oh, hell no. Yeah. Did you guys read that article about the mother? She was a single mother. She had a daughter, I think, in sixth grade, and uh the sixth grade teacher was a very good-looking guy. And so the mother started dating her daughter's teacher. And then it comes out that he started essaying the daughter, and it comes out that he only dated the mother to get to the child.
SPEAKER_01
Did you read about that?
SPEAKER_00
And he had like a drawer in his classroom that was just for her, like that had perfume in it and makeup in it. It's it was so creepy. But that's the only reason he wanted to date the mother, is to get to the child. And now he's in jail, thank God. But freak, it does. It's I hear it happens all the time, which is just it's unfathomable unfathomable to me that people would do that. You know, well, at least you have a smart head on your shoulders about it.
SPEAKER_05
I try.
Scottsdale Dating Disaster Date Stories
SPEAKER_00
So, how is dating in Scosta for you? Do you love it? Is it fun? Is it miserable?
SPEAKER_05
Uh, it can be fun and miserable. Um, I am very much a girly girl, so I like the thought of dressing up for the night and everything, so that part's fun. But then uh dating is weird. I am divorced. How long have you been divorced?
SPEAKER_03
I've been divorced for six years.
SPEAKER_05
Seven years.
SPEAKER_03
Okay. Seven years this year. So when did you start? Have you been dating ever since you got divorced? Yes.
SPEAKER_05
So I started dating someone right after my divorce just to kind of get my feet wet a little bit. But I realized really quickly after six months that he fell in love with me. And I was like, oh, I don't actually feel the same. And now I feel really bad because I didn't think about this all the way through. Um, it was really hard on my older daughter. She had already attached to him, and like for years after she kept asking about him. Uh, so I went to therapy for a year, didn't date, uh worked on myself, worked on my kids, worked on my career, just focused on me. And then when I got back into the dating pool, I was like, this is trash. Everything in here is garbage. And I've pretty much been single ever since. I've had little relationships here and there, but nothing that's really long term. I'm very picky about who I date.
SPEAKER_00
What is the worst date you've ever been on? Do you have any disaster date stories?
SPEAKER_05
Um, I think my favorite one to tell because no one believes it is I dated this guy that claims, I don't really know if he is or not, but half owns El Jefe and Scottsdale.
SPEAKER_00
Don't know if he's What's his name? Don't you know that we know it's gotta be the same guy.
SPEAKER_03
We had another guest that went out with him, remember?
SPEAKER_04
Oh my god, yeah. Does his name start with a D or maybe an A? Or J. Something like that. Yeah. It's A for long and D for short. We know who it is. He gets around. He's taken out our other guests that we've had on. They have other disasters stories with him.
SPEAKER_00
Yes. Yes.
SPEAKER_05
Um, well, he was 45 minutes late, which is fine. Like traffic, he kept saying traffic. I understand. I know. I looked at my phone the same way and I was like, it's fine. Um, I went to one of my favorite places because I know all the bartenders, I know all the waitresses. They're my safe haven. So I was like, I'll just hang out at the bar, I'm gonna order a drink. It's fine. He finally shows up, he sits down, he's like all relaxed and chill, and he's just like, You look good. Oh, gross. Looking me up and down like a steak dinner, you look good. And I was like, Okay. Oh my god, I'm a little uncomfortable now. You could have just stayed away.
SPEAKER_03
And he was serious when he did that. It wasn't like a joke. He wasn't trying to be like, ha ha, he he, let me lighten the mood and crack the ice and like make a funny.
SPEAKER_05
He was very serious and it made me uncomfortable. And I was just like, okay, let's just get let's just move past this. Maybe there's something more in depth underneath. I don't know. So we cut we started talking. The waitress came over, he called her darlin, which I don't care. It's fine. People say certain words, especially from like my my parents are from the south, so they say darlin a lot. But he kept like touching her. He always had to touch her, her side, her arm, her back. He like kept touching her, and I was like, that's a little weird. That's a red flag. I'm gonna keep going. And then he was like, our waitress is pretty cute. And I was like, Yeah, I mean, she's 21, so yeah, she's cute. I'm not 21, I'm not even in my 20s, like, okay, it's fine. And I was like, Yeah, she's cute. We order our food as she's setting it down again. He's grabbing her around the waist, which is already questionable. That goes, Darling, what are you doing after your shift? And I was like, Are you really hitting on the waitress in front of me? And he's like, Oh, maybe she can just join us. I was like, Oh my god. Are you serious? I'm done. I only want the food. Like, I got up. I was like, I'm done. And again, I know all the bartenders and waitresses. So I was like, I'm gonna go have a drink. I'm gonna go by myself. You enjoy your dinner or whatever you're gonna do, but I'm done. Good, good for you. What did he say to that? He's like, Are you serious? You're not even gonna sit down and eat your food. I I already bought it. No, you didn't. The check didn't come. Oh my god. I already brought this food to the table. Like you're gonna get up right now and walk away from me. Good for you. Does that work for him?
SPEAKER_03
Maybe, like once out of every 10 tries.
SPEAKER_05
Also, I think he's very proud of whatever he does at El Jefe. So he was like, no one's gonna leave me.
SPEAKER_00
I wonder if he gets so many women because he is part owner of El Jefe, so he gets free drinks and VIP. So I wonder if women just don't care. They're like, oh my god, I'm getting the owner of El Jefe, ooh, I don't care what you do.
SPEAKER_03
Or do you think he knew her? Like, do you think that from being No, because I knew her. The scene. Oh, you did? Okay. I hear about that all the time.
SPEAKER_00
Men hitting on waitresses on the first date. What the hell are guys thinking? That's so disrespectful.
SPEAKER_05
That's so weird. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00
Deal breaker.
SPEAKER_05
I had my my best friend, her husband's best friend. They were trying to hook us up for like a hot minute. And we went out for her husband's birthday, and he had his arm around me and everything and asked for the waitress's number. I was like, with your arm around me. And he was really drunk, so I'm sure that's why, but still, that's not an excuse. Like, you're trying to date me, you have your arm around me, and you have the nerve.
SPEAKER_03
That's crazy. Are you like, okay, are you like interested in the poly lifestyle or having multiple partners or anything like that? So there wasn't ever any conversation where you were like, oh yeah, I'd be open to exploring like alternate alternate relationships or whatever. So it's not like you're even giving off the vibes of I hope not. Like that is mind-boggling to me.
SPEAKER_00
Is it me? What woman would actually give her number or play back, you know, participate in this when he's with another girl hitting on you. Does that make sense?
SPEAKER_05
Yeah. I don't think the waitress, I don't think the waitress gave it to him. Um, she did. Oh, she did.
unknown
Oh my god, he did. That's right.
SPEAKER_00
He what?
SPEAKER_05
He doubled back for it. So she because she looked at me and she saw the arm and she looked back at me like it's like almost like, is this okay? And I was like, I'm done. And I went to the bathroom, and when I went to the bathroom, he did get the number.
SPEAKER_03
See, and that's what I was gonna say. There are so many women out there that are just so desperate for male attention that the pick me girls, the pick me girls, it's more it's I don't know that I'm surprised by either side because I can see a lot of women engaging in that sort of interaction with guys, even though they're on a date with another girl, because they see it as I won. I'm better than her. Like I'm prettier than her, I whatever it is, like they in their heads think that they it somehow made them superior, that they got the guy, quote unquote.
SPEAKER_00
But my question is this if he's doing this to her on the first date, he's gonna do it to you. Well, yeah, what makes you different? Everyone thinks so they're the exception, and they're he'll never do that to me. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_05
I want the respect right out there in the front. Like, if you're not, if you're gonna do it to me now, you're gonna keep doing this to me. I'm not gonna give you that opportunity. And I've never been a pick-me-girl.
SPEAKER_00
Ugh.
SPEAKER_05
I'm fine being single and by myself.
SPEAKER_00
Wouldn't you rather be single than with one of those guys? And but I guess there are women that date married guys, you know. So I guess women just don't care.
SPEAKER_03
It's so funny because I just I remember him from back in the day.
SPEAKER_04
Like, you know, like 10 years ago, 12 years ago. He was such a nice guy. Like ruined him. Isn't he from Iowa or some Midwest place? He was great.
SPEAKER_00
But we hear all these horror stories about how he's just a douche nugget. Yeah. The other girl that went on a date with him also said he was very touchy to leave. It was the first date, and he kept massaging her, and she was like, Nope, I got the ick big time. Yeah. So funny. Oh, that's crazy. So I see that you do a bunch of TikToks. Like, are you you a content creator or?
Divorce Cheating And Co-Parenting Reality
SPEAKER_05
Yeah, ish. I mean, I'm not trying to be millions of followers, content creator type thing. I do want to keep my private life somewhat private and my children's lives. I don't, they're on there because it's part of my content. Is I read my dark romance books, I'm single, and I'm a mom. So I I let them pop in every once in a while, but for the most part, I want to keep my private life somewhat private. And what do you do for a living? Did you tell us? I'm a buyer for isogenics. A buyer?
SPEAKER_03
I have a friend that's in the isogenics world.
SPEAKER_05
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00
Yes. Have you ever walked out mid-date? Oh, besides that one where you went to the bar.
SPEAKER_05
Um, no, I do try to give people the benefit of the doubt. Like maybe they're nervous, maybe it's this, maybe it's that. Like, I also get nervous and I try to give them the benefit of the doubt. But that was the only one that I can think of that I was like, I'm absolutely done. I can't even pretend anymore.
SPEAKER_00
Have you ever cheated or been cheated on?
SPEAKER_05
Uh yes.
SPEAKER_00
Your ex? Yes. Husband? Oh no. How did you find out?
SPEAKER_05
Um, well, he's gonna claim we weren't together, but we had finished our second round of uh marriage counseling, and my best friend lived right next door. That's actually how we met. And the girl was my friend and she stayed the night, and her car was there the next morning, and Mallory told me about it, and I was like, I know my ex-husband very well, so I know that it wasn't just a regular sleepover.
SPEAKER_00
So, where were you?
SPEAKER_05
I was living with her. I was living with Mallory. We uh the therapist had suggested that we couldn't figure things out under the same roof. Maybe we needed some space. We were together for you know eight straight years, uh never left each other's side. Maybe we just needed some space, we needed some distance, and it would bring us back together, who knows? Or make us realize that we weren't supposed to be together anymore. And so it was only three days in. And he was like, I want my marriage, I want to make this work. And I was like, Okay, let's see if we can figure this out. And then she stayed the night and he lied to me. And then three months later, I finally found out the truth because we got in a huge fight in front of his parents' house, and he was like, Oh my god, so what I slept with Amy, and I was like, I'm filing for a divorce. And then I called her husband and told him, Oh, good. What a friend! And so obviously the friendship ended. Yes. Did they call me crying and was like, You ruined my f my marriage? I was like, No, honey, you ruined your own marriage. Oh, she banned you?
SPEAKER_00
Wow. That's crazy. Did they end up together? No. No, of course not.
SPEAKER_03
No, you know, that's crazy. It's crazy. It's like the friends, it's like friends. Like, we were on a break. Yeah. But you know what? You got your answer.
SPEAKER_00
At least I gave you clarity and gave you the decision that you needed.
SPEAKER_05
I was like, I wasn't even out of the house for a week. Like, it was so quick. You made that decision so quick. Obviously, you didn't want to really work on this marriage. And that's fine. Don't waste any more time. All right. We had our daughter was three. Like, I don't want to put her through the ringer. Let's just cut ties. Is he a good co-parent? He is now. Okay. Um, it took he refused to dis uh sign the divorce papers. Um so it wasn't until the judge was like, hey, if you're not gonna sign them, I'm gonna make you sign them type of deal. Um and then we fought a lot and co-paring was non-existent, but now he's been with the same woman for almost three years and she's amazing. My daughter loves her, and I'm like, You're never allowed to leave him.
Crypto Dating Scams And Pig Butchering
SPEAKER_03
Yeah. Are you ready for it? I'm ready for it. The keep more minute, brought to you by Tactical Tax Strategies. They help you keep more in your wallet. We help you keep more in your relationship. Okay, so uh this week's question is from Reddit. Is my friend being scammed? He met this woman on a dating app and she is drop dead gorgeous. She tells him she's super wealthy, has multiple businesses, sent her him her home address, photos of her house, her bank statement, and they had a video call. She tells him that one of her wealth sources is crypto and invites him to join this thing. He put some money into it, he said it looks legit and he's getting some passive percentage money that he was able to withdraw. He says the platform looks legit. You can see everyone's crypto wallets with account balances, some even in the millions. He keeps telling me he just wants to explore it and he's not too worried about losing the money that he's put in so far. But I feel like I smell scam all over the place. He keeps asking me what her next steps are and what the scam is, but I don't have the answer. But this is a scam, right? And how can I convince him to run? And then there's an update. So a couple days later, there was an update that now she's given him her mother's name and sent photos. And when he looked up her mom, she checks out as a real person. So what is this?
SPEAKER_05
Maybe it's a gym. You hear that saying if it's too good to be true.
SPEAKER_04
You would get scammed every day. You would get scammed all the time. Thank God you're married and you would get scammed. This guy is gonna get taken for his entire bank account.
SPEAKER_00
But if he doesn't but if he doesn't invest anymore, he says he's invested a little bit and he can see the payoff, he can withdraw the money. So I mean, don't just don't invest anymore, right? But maybe she I don't know.
SPEAKER_03
They're in business together now. So have you heard of the term pig butchering in dating? So it's like it's a similar scam to this, where they create this like wonderful life. Like we had a video call. Um, it's a gorgeous woman. Like it's basically this whole thing, but it's really like a Nigerian scammer. And they're using AI to like fatten up their pig. So they it's like it's like get it's a gam, like a gambling addiction. So they like sink in that like dopamine spike that you get from making a little money. Oh. And and then, so then it's like a little bit, a little bit, as long as it takes them, and they'll keep giving a little bit, a little bit, a little bit. And then at some point, like she's gonna ask him for a substantial amount of money. Yeah. And then he's gonna invest it, and it's gonna look like he's then made double or triple or however much times his money. But then when he goes to pull it out, it's gone. Like he can't get it out. And so they just basically like buy themselves enough time for the person to get invested, and then they disappear. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04
Lindsay would be broke if she wasn't married. If Lindsay had to be on the dating map, I would never do that because I don't really.
SPEAKER_00
I mean, I I get those emails all the time from the, you know, you've won the I want the lottery and I want to give you 50%. But I don't know.
SPEAKER_05
It's also the things that people can do with AI now is wild. I mean, even some TikToks uh content creators are just full AI. They look like real people, but they're not.
SPEAKER_03
Well, and it's funny because always I always wondered that where the um whenever you ask, is it a red flag if they mention crypto on the first date? That's why that's a red flag is because of these dating scams.
SPEAKER_00
Yes, maybe that's true. Yeah. Yeah.
Breakup Advice Plus Safety Fears
SPEAKER_03
So if they talk too much about crypto, it's like if they ask too much about your kids. Like, yeah, if they talk too much about anything really that could potentially be hooked on to your top questions on Google is how to break up with someone.
SPEAKER_00
1.5 plus million searches a month. People are asking, how do you break up with someone? So, what would your advice be to someone that's looking for help in breaking up? I say just be honest, right? Do it in person. No. No, don't do it in person.
SPEAKER_05
Oh, thank God you're married. She's right. Like, no, don't do it in person. You don't break up in person.
SPEAKER_04
I only break up in person.
SPEAKER_05
Kidnap me or do something worse.
SPEAKER_00
You trust men that much? No, but if you've been with them like for a year, no.
SPEAKER_03
Okay, okay, to this point, I think. If you've only been dating someone for like three or four months. But I guess that's all I really do. Yes. So like long-term, like like my anyone that I've ever had to break up with has been like, so like I've had two long-term relationships, right? Since I moved to Arizona in 2012. And obviously, like they deserved an in-person, like a proper like face-to-face. We're gonna talk about a breakup because one was like a two-year relationship and one was like a five-year relationship. So then it's like when it's a significant amount of time spent, yeah, I think the breakup has to be in person.
SPEAKER_05
That's fair. I think five years is is good enough. Two years, um, FaceTime. That's what I did with one of my like serious-ish relationships is I FaceTimed him and I was like, hey, look. So we both agree, right? This isn't working.
SPEAKER_03
Well, and I guess if it's amicable like that, if you both sort of know if it's not like a yeah, if it's not like a messy situation. Yeah. And I think it kind of does depend on the situation. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah. But I think like not placing blame on anyone and like stick to your guns. Like, don't let them talk you out of it. Or don't offer false hope. Yeah. Well, we'll see, you know, we'll take a break and then maybe get back together. You know? Yeah. Stick to your guns. And but I think honesty is thy best policy, no? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. And I hate it when people like create lies, you know, because they don't like the confrontation. Like, it's not you, it's me. Yeah.
unknown
Right.
SPEAKER_03
Yeah. But there's always somebody to blame though. Like it's really hard to break up with someone and not place any blame. Because if it's like if no one was in the wrong, there's no one to blame for this, then why are you breaking up? You know what I mean? Maybe feelings are just gone. So, like, if you can't take some of well, then blame yourself. Like, I have myself to blame, like my feelings have changed. Like, I think that you shouldn't always place the blame on the other person, maybe.
unknown
Right.
SPEAKER_03
But like, there does have to be some sort of accountability when you're breaking up with someone.
SPEAKER_00
Like, but maybe it's no one's fault. Maybe you just lost that love and feeling, you know? But then it is your fault. It's your fault, but it's not, you can't help it, you know.
SPEAKER_03
No, no one's guilty of anything, but there was feeling like there was no wrongdoing. What you're saying is there was no wrongdoing. Yeah. But also, blame doesn't necessarily mean that there was wrongdoing. True. Like in taking accountability for something doesn't mean that there was uh something wrong, you know.
unknown
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00
But why break up with someone when you can just kill them? No, I'm kidding, don't do that. But these articles in the lung. Stab them in the lung. I'm kidding, don't do that.
SPEAKER_05
I don't know where you got that from.
SPEAKER_00
These articles, it's mind-boggling to me how many people just kill their spouse or their significant other because they want to break up. Like this. I can't have you, nobody can. Like, did you hear the story about Corey Richards? How she attempted to kill her husband with fentanyl. So she goes to a fentanyl dealer, puts it in his burger, and he doesn't die. So she goes back to the dealer and says double the dose, puts it in his Moscow mule, and he pops his clogs, he dies. But then she gets away with it and she becomes famous for it because she writes a book, because they have kids. Yes. She wrote a book, Are You With Me, about grieving parents. About grieving a parent, sorry. She made TV appearances all over the country, all over the world, about navigating grief with your children. But then it comes out that she was having an affair with the handyman, and she wanted her husband's four million dollar estate. So she decides to poison him and kill him. And then the handyman comes forward, and now she's in jail, arrested for murder, and sentenced to life without parole. Dang, the handyman did her dirty.
SPEAKER_03
Did her so dirty.
SPEAKER_00
Like, wouldn't it have just been easier to say, listen, honey, I'm not in love with you. Been honest. I'm not in love with you. I'm in love with the handyman. Would she have gotten the money though? Yeah, what kind of life?
SPEAKER_04
Then she has to go to a handyman's story. Like, come on.
SPEAKER_00
I'm just obviously don't want to do that.
SPEAKER_05
She went with the other option.
SPEAKER_00
But then there's another story. Did you hear about Christina 38, the mother of two and former Miss Switzerland? She was found dead in February at her home. Her husband Mark was charged with murder. An autopsy determined the cause of death was strangulation, and that the husband used a jigsaw knife and garden shears to dismember her body. Forensic experts found that he then used a blender to puree parts of her remains and used chemicals to attempt to dissolve them. He then claimed he found her dead and acted in self-defense, alleging a panicked reaction. Oh my god. Am I chopping her up into tiny pieces? A panicked reaction, putting her in the blender? I didn't think this through at all. Then he admitted that he killed her after she told him that she wanted a divorce. So you're right, some people do go crazy when you say you want to break up.
SPEAKER_03
When your stepsister stabbed her ex, was did she claim self-defense? What was her defense?
SPEAKER_05
There wasn't one. She was, they were both high. And she was just like, they got in a huge fight, and that was the logical answer.
SPEAKER_03
It was like a temporary insanity moment. I'm mad at him.
SPEAKER_05
How can I get you to stop talking? I'm gonna stab you in the lung. You'll stop talking. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03
I guess that's what drugs do to you, eh? Do you guys watch Ginny and Georgia on Netflix? No. No.
SPEAKER_00
My daughter wanted to watch it. So I watched one episode and I'm like, oh hell no. She whips out a vibrator. And I'm like, oh my god, thank God. No, it's so good. Good thing you don't read Smutton. She's killed, she's killed like 10 years old. I was like, oh yeah, she probably isn't old.
SPEAKER_03
No, she's not old enough. But it's no, the main character is that's basically how she gets out of her relationship. She just kills her husband. Really?
SPEAKER_00
Oh my god, that's hilarious.
SPEAKER_03
But there is a reason when we're talking about like justice in life, like one of the exes that she killed was inappropriate with her teenage daughter. And she thought so then rather than, because she it's like that was the storyline of the show. She knew that she nor her daughter would ever get justice for what he did. And so she just decided to kill him instead.
SPEAKER_05
Um, if my situation was just like what my mom went through and I walked in on it, I have no problem saying I would in a heartbeat, I would. Uh I wouldn't even think about it. And everyone's like, Oh no, you would think about it. You'd go to prison. Yeah, happily, with a smile on my face.
Celebrity Crime And Rapid Fire Red Flags
SPEAKER_00
Well, did you hear that story? It was years ago, but the father had a son, and the son had a karate teacher that they became very close to. The family came very close to this karate teacher. And the karate teacher took the kid out to some championship or some event and essay'd the little boy. And so he was arrested and he was like walking through, I think, the airport or somewhere. And the father was on the payphone. This is how far back it was, was on the payphone hiding. And while the news cameras were filming this guy after he'd been arrested, walking through the airport, the father just shot, shoots him dead, kills him. And then he was arrested initially, but then he got off because every parent was like, I would have done the exact same thing if someone had done that to my child. Yeah. So now it's time for the um celebrity cut where we marinate in the juices of the celebrities. Did you hear that story about David? Speaking of killing spouses, David, the rapper, but it's D4 V I D. Have you heard of that?
SPEAKER_03
Oh, I think I did. I think I did. I didn't do a deep dive.
SPEAKER_00
He's like a musician, was performing at Coachella and was arrested at Coachella for killing or allegedly killing a 14-year-old, one of his fans that he allegedly was dating. She was dismembered in the back of his pickup truck. And I guess now the brother is also arrested because he was in cahoots, apparently, because internet sleuths have like dissected all the backstage footage and has seen um the brother with this 14-year-old girl, like help helping her. And so they say that because she was 14 years old. And apparently, word on the street is that the prosecutors are saying she wanted to come forward with the relationship because they were dating and she wanted everyone to know that she was dating him, but she was 14. So we just rather than how old was he?
SPEAKER_03
Do you know how to say?
SPEAKER_00
I did I don't know how old he is. But she was 14 and they started a sexual relationship apparently when she was 13.
SPEAKER_05
Like, what the hell? Did he think 14 was better? Like you're older. Right. Thought process, what the hell?
SPEAKER_00
But yeah, it's crazy because I guess his career was up and coming, and the brother was about to launch his music career, but now that's over because they say he was, you know, along with the guy with David. That's crazy. Yeah. So now it's time to get to know you with Zoya, sponsored by Zoya, your neighborhood yogurt. So rapid fire questions. Are these red flags, yes or no? Makes you split the bill on a first date. Uh still follows their ex on Instagram.
SPEAKER_05
Red flag.
SPEAKER_00
Bad tipper. Red flag. Has no social media at all. Green flag. Where should someone not take you on a first date?
SPEAKER_05
I can't think of any place. I mean McDonald's. Don't take me there.
SPEAKER_00
Is watching porn considered cheating?
SPEAKER_05
That's a tough one.
SPEAKER_00
Red flag. Before you're intimate, is it appropriate to ask your date how many people they've been with? Is it acceptable to have sex on a first date?
SPEAKER_05
Um I mean you shouldn't. If you really want to get to know the person, you shouldn't.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah. Um, do you have a special talent that not many people know about, or something unique about you that not many people know?
SPEAKER_05
Um something unique about me. Uh I was born with everything on the opposite side of everyone else.
SPEAKER_00
Really? Like organs?
SPEAKER_05
Everything.
SPEAKER_03
That's interesting. Your livers on the other side. Are your lungs switched around?
SPEAKER_05
What are? Everything is.
SPEAKER_03
Wow.
SPEAKER_05
My heart, everything. That is so interesting.
SPEAKER_00
Does it cause any problems or everything's functioning fine?
SPEAKER_05
Um doctors are still trying to figure all that out. And how does that happen? That's crazy. I don't know. Born with it.
SPEAKER_00
In one sentence, why should someone date you?
SPEAKER_05
Oh, that's a good question. Um, according to my best friend, I'm amazing.
SPEAKER_00
You are amazing, we can tell. And last but not least, what is your favorite sexual position and why?
SPEAKER_05
Ooh, uh doggy. Hair pulled back.
Deal Breakers Dating Standards And Closing
SPEAKER_03
Do you have any other questions? I you know what we really didn't talk much about what you're looking for in a man in your type. If you have a type. Um, I do have a type.
SPEAKER_05
Um, I'd like him to have a job. He can financially stable, you know, be able to support himself, I hope. Um, if he's a dad, I want to be a good father. Yeah, I guess that's a short list.
SPEAKER_00
I don't deal with a lot what are your deal breakers?
SPEAKER_05
My deal breakers are asking me to pay half on the first date, asking me what I bring to the table. Oh. I hate that question because I thought it was obvious what I bring to the table. I'm a single mom. I bring everything to the table.
SPEAKER_00
Right.
SPEAKER_05
Everything you do. So I thought that was obvious.
SPEAKER_00
